     Theo Moorman Techniques   4 shafts

Theo Moorman was a British weaver who developed a method of placing an inlay pattern weft on the surface of the cloth, so new and individual that it has become known as the Moorman technique. This allowed her to produce pictorial weavings, previously only able to be done as tapestry (she found traditional tapestry too slow) The inlay is held in place by fine warp threads called tie-down threads and is not usually visible on the reverse of the fabric.
